Very sadly the historical Society of Rayleigh closed at the end of 2013.

The committee, and others, made strenuous efforts to find a replacement for our Chairman, who stepped down at the AGM in November.

Unfortunately We have faced an ever growing number of problems such as an ageing and reducing membership, with ever increasing pressure on rising costs to hire the Hall, Speaker fees, insufficient support for our coach trips, amongst other issues. As such we felt unable to continue to operate the Society in the way we would like to.
